First responders used equipment to contain oil that entered the water when a boat caught on fire and sank in it's slip. Containment boom was used to circle the dock and adsorbent materials were deployed into the slips at the site of the spill. The City of Gig Harbor was awarded an 18' trailer containing 800' of containment boom and adsorbent materials through Ecology's Oil Spill Response Equipment Grant. The City also owns response equipment that was successfully used during the marine fire in August 2005.
